Experience
After a career of Interior Design Focused on Drapery and Home Fashions Manufacturing, including advancing through the ranks of workrooms and eventually building and running a successful wholesale manufacturing business, providing services to Interior Designers, furniture stores, and builders; I find myself directed by THE WORLD ECONOMY, away from that field. At this point I am thinking outside the box but still taking a chance that I can use my skill sets.
The last 10 years has afforded me the time and freedom to focus on my creative passion. I have accumulated a large collection of work . I have evolved and grown and am ready to seriously persue opportunities to share this future work.

The act of painting has many layers for me. Some pieces are reactionary, some kind of personal way to improve how events make me feel, a therapy of healing. I have a tendency to create a peaceful atmosphere when we have a violent or destructive event. Or when I see ugliness I want to paint something beautiful. Some of my work is a flash of memory from a vacation or trip we’ve taken. A snippet of beauty that stuck in my memory, or part of a photograph if I remember to use my camera. I use research to learn the correct composition of a species of tree or animal then I paint my interpretation. Recently I have attempted a collection of abstract work. These pieces use large canvases that I have to move away from to really see what has evolved, total immersion in texture and color. I also really enjoy the figurative work that I have accomplished in the last couple years. These pieces never make it to my collection as I have sold all of them from the window of the studio. I also have been totally drawn to architectural work. It was easier when I was doing watercolor because I could get out pencil and ruler to aid in the rendition parts but in oil and acrylic work makes my structures more general and not so refined. My painting work habits are a direct reflection of my manufacturing career. I feel it helps me because I can keep working on challenges and I don’t feel I get too hung up or stuck. It also sets me free because I never have to do a painting over and over like some of the manufacturing contracts. It’s wonderful to be released to create only what I want.

When I sold my manufacturing business in 2004 and took apart my big work tables I had a large amount of canvas that was covering them. I repurposed all of that yardage and stretched canvases to paint on. At that time I was painting forests and trees. I just keep on painting them. I've sold a lot of them but I still have a couple that were part of that original transition. Enjoy
